TEMPORAL STUDIES 01
Sources & credits
Each essay uses a different time discipline; no single bibliography can date manufacture, excavation and visitor attention equally.
Chronology and object biography
Museum studies on classification and object biography support the distinction between manufacture, use, collection and display. Object dates should be checked against the holding institution’s current catalogue and cited with qualifiers.
Excavation
Stratigraphic excavation manuals, context recording, archaeological matrices, specialist dating reports and site publications support the sequence discussion. A museum place name is never a substitute for field documentation.
Reuse
Material study, epigraphy, architectural context and scholarship on spolia, reinscription and repair are required to date interventions independently.
Conservation
Preventive-conservation guidance from professional bodies and museum collections-care literature supports the treatment of light, environment, documentation, minimum intervention and monitoring.
Visitor time
The hour structure is an editorial synthesis informed by close looking, retrieval practice and visitor research. It is not presented as a universal cognitive optimum.
